Law Society

The law society is the representative body for solicitors in England and Wales. These guys educate, train and hold loads of fabulous social events as well as rewarding deserving solicitors who have worked their butts off for great causes. You can find solicitors here and more importantly, find all the addresses of firms which are allowed to train. No clues needed about which to send your CV to !

SRA
The regulatory body is now the Solicitors Regulation Authority. These guys ensure that solicitors provide a high standard of service to the public. They also provide tons of useful information for students and trainees so the site is definitely worth a visit.

Barristers

Bar Council

The representative body for barristers in England and Wales provide lots of information about training and qualifying to be a barrister.

Bar Standards Board
The regulatory body for barristers which sets the standard for the professional practice of barristers about training and qualifying to be a barrister.

ILEX

Institute of Legal Executives
This is a professional body representing around 24,000 qualified and trainee Legal Executives. A Legal Executive is a qualified lawyer specialising in a particular area of law. The role of a Legal Executive is similar to that of a solicitor but the training is much cheaper.
